The UNELECTED President of the European Council Donald Tusk has encountered a lot of criticism over the last few days for saying that the whole process of Brexit can be reversed somehow – the whole outburst was a direct attempt to change the course of democracy after all!
In the wake of these remarks, the Brexiteer MP Nigel Evans has appeared on the BBC and slammed Tusk for ‘not understanding democracy,’ and it has to be said that ignoring the will of the people really isn’t the smartest move for the EU’s top brass at the moment.
Evans used the ‘undemocratic’ manner of Tusk’s appointment to the role to justify his own assessment of the situation.
According to a report in The Express:
Mr Evans said: “Poor Donald Tusk. When we talk about democracy, I really do appreciate why he doesn’t fully understand it.
“He has never been elected to the Presidency, like lots of other presidents. He’s just been elected by the countries’ prime ministers and governments.”
Despite having served as Prime Minister of Poland for seven years, Mr Tusk has since become a fierce eurocrat calling for further integration among member states and has harshly criticised the Brexit vote.
Mr Tusk recently said the European Union would be open to welcome the United Kingdom into the fold should Britons have a change of heart.
But Mr Evans claimed the eurocrat’s commitment to the European project makes him unable to understand the UK’s democratic decision to leave the Brussels bloc.
Speaking to the BBC, the Tory MP continued: “We understand exactly why he doesn’t really understand the fact that we’ve had the biggest festival of democracy that this country has ever seen – which was the referendum in 2016.
“The British people had a very binary question, in or out, they decided out and now that’s what we are going to deliver.”
Farage LETS RIP at EU parliament as he accuses them of working with Britain’s most hated politician
Nigel Farage has blasted the European Parliment and accused them of working with the most hated politician in the UK, Tony Blair.
Speaking in the European Parliament, Mr Farage said: “Let’s cast our minds back a short distance.
“The rejection of the Lisbon treaty by the Irish, a second referendum forced on their people conducted on the most unfair, undemocratic lines that I have ever seen.
“You are part, of course, a big attempt here and else where to frustrate and to attempt to overturn Brexit.
“You don’t want Britain to leave because you know if they do that others will leave too.
“I would just say this to you – I don’t want a second referendum on Brexit, absolutely not.
“But I fear that you are all working together with Tony Blair and Nick Clegg to make sure we get the worst possible deal.
“I say that because I’ve seen it all before. The difference is if you force the Brits to do it again, there will be a different outcome.”
Brexiteer blasts Blair Brexit intrusion after Barnier showdown and it’s spectacular to watch
Lord Digby Jones attacked Tony Blair, Nick Clegg and Lord Adonis for their anti-Brexit comments and attempts to reverse the vote.
Clearly, Blair, Clegg and Adonis do not understand democracy.
Lord Jones said: “It’s not about what I am concerned about. It’s about what 18million people are concerned about, who actually voted one way.
“Secondly so many small businesses, who I am in touch with around the country, who are absolutely fed up with what I would call the ABC faction.
“Which is Adonis, Blair, Clegg. And they think they speak for the country. Really? Their arrogance, it takes my breath away.
“At the end of the day, there is a type of tyranny in this where they say ‘no, no, no, we speak for it’. And of course, because they are public figures, with good quality serve track records, what they are is getting access.
“They’re getting airtime, they are getting in to see people like Barnier, and therefore I am worried that people like Michel Barnier think that they speak for Britain, they do not.”
