Two burglars WEARING BURKAS were seen entering a house in Leicester at about 10:30 BST on Wednesday and proceeded to attack the gentlemen who lived there.
The burglars used Burkas to hide their identity from CCTV and made a getaway after taking cash, watches and jewellery.
Det Con Nev Walker said: “We are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and saw the men entering the house, loitering in the area or making off in the van.
“Do you know where the silver van went next? Have you seen any abandoned clothing? Have you heard any rumours about who may be involved?
“Small details will help us piece together information and could prove vital in bringing those responsible for this incident to justice.”
UKIP have come under fire recently for their policy of banning the Burka due to security and cultural concerns.
This robbery proves how much of a security threat the Burka is and creates a stronger argument for it to be banned.
Many countries in Europe have already adopted this policy.
The UKIP leader was questioned on the Andrew Marr show earlier this week, this is what he had to say:
“Obviously we have a heightened security risk at the moment and for CCTV to be effective you need to be able to see people’s faces.
“Secondly, there’s the issue of integration, I don’t believe you can integrate fully and enjoy the fruits of British society if you can’t see people’s faces.”
Quizzed by Marr on how such a ban would be implemented in Britain, the UKIP leader continued: “What happens in France, for example, is there is a fine.
“What we’ll do is, we’ll come in line with other European countries such as Belgium, Bulgaria, the city of Barcelona and some places in Italy.”
